A Random Tandem.

So I'm getting married in just 4 weeks and this pick pretty much sums up how pumped, stoked and incredibly happy I am at this point in my life right now. This pic was taken randomly on New Years Day at the Pass... Cheers Dustin for the pic. Its one of Emmy and I's favorite things to do together. It just so rad to be able to share something that brings so much joy into our lives together. The sled is a insane 12 footer hand crafted by Mr Paul Joske. What a joy to ride and what a way to welcome in 2012. 

Taking it back to basics.

Lately I have been feeling a little out of step on my log and have found my self getting a little frustrated. When I get like this I usually have lost the stoke a little and need to find the joy again. So I usually turn to either my 8'9 Paul Joske Alaia or my hand plane to take it back to basics and just go triming for awhile. I love the feeling of just skipping across the water in a straight line, no cross steps, nose rides or turns just simple trim. joy :)

Off to Japan.

The Japan Green room festival is here once again and this year Paul and Sage have been asked to provide the canvases for the Critical slide society display at the event. Sage and Paul have been super busy handcrafting five paulowina Alaia's to have them ready in time. I found this pic a little while ago and it's of PJ back in the day with a beautiful quiver of pin tail guns. For those of you that don't know Paul is the man that started Valla surfboards 40yrs ago.

Wood.

This is a pic of Paul and Sage at the Wood fry Last year. The board that they are holding is a 7'4 Alaia made from one piece of Redcedar. The board is amazing and the craftsmanship is unbelieveable as Paul uses all hand tools and general perfects his boards down to 1/64th of an inch to perfection. I am yet to ride this one  but I'm sure its only a matter of time.

Alaia x Fish = VECTOR

We have been lucky enough now to have been able to ride the timber boards for a number of years.
My Shapers Paul and Sage Joske are constantly amazing me with their creativity and excellent craftsmanship.
Sage recently combinded his favourite fish with an Alaia template and called it the Vector.
